Cátedra Aqualia organises its new summer course «Innovation in the integral water cycle from Almería»
The summer course «Innovation in the Integral Water Cycle from Almería» offers an up-to-date and applied overview of the main challenges and opportunities in the water sector in the context of climate change, water scarcity and the ecological transition.
Over two days, the course addresses the integral water cycle from an interdisciplinary perspective, integrating regulation, technology, management and digitalisation. The programme analyses the new European regulatory framework on wastewater and drinking water, as well as the technical, economic and organisational implications for public administrations and operators.
Among the highlighted topics, the course presents advanced technologies for water treatment, reuse, desalination and the transformation of wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) into biofactories oriented towards the circular economy and resource recovery. It also delves into the digitalisation of the sector through artificial intelligence, digital twins and advanced monitoring systems, as well as the adaptation of water systems to drought scenarios and extreme weather events.
With the participation of experts from public administration, universities, technology centres and leading companies, the course is designed as a space for training, debate and knowledge transfer, positioning Almería as a benchmark in innovation and sustainability in water management.
Practical information: Enrolment will be free of charge during the month of May: advance payment is required, which will be refunded once the course has ended and full attendance (100% of sessions) has been confirmed. Only 30 places are available, so early registration is strongly recommended.
