CIESOL Showcases Its Research and Technological Potential at InfoAgro 2025

The joint research center between the University of Almería and CIEMAT highlights its strategic lines of work for the agri-food sector at the trade fair held in Aguadulce.

The Solar Energy Research Centre (CIESOL) had a prominent presence at the 2025 edition of InfoAgro Exhibition, held from May 21 to 23 at the Palace of Congresses and Exhibitions in Aguadulce. As part of the institutional stand of the University of Almería, CIESOL presented to agricultural sector companies the scientific and technological capabilities it offers at a crucial time for the sustainability and modernization of Almería’s intensive farming industry.

The center’s director, José Luis Casas López, expressed a very positive view of the event, emphasizing that «the purpose of our presence at InfoAgro is to inform companies in the agricultural sector about the services the University of Almería can provide them.» He also stressed that «CIESOL strongly focuses its research on the socio-economic context of the province of Almería, and without a doubt, the agri sector is strategic.»

During the fair, CIESOL presented its main lines of work with direct application to the agri-food sector, including wastewater regeneration for agricultural use, robotics to support greenhouse operations, environmental and residue analysis, and the study of pesticides and agrochemicals. In addition, the center shared its growing developments in microalgae production, which are gaining significant added value as biofertilizers and biostimulants.

«For us, reaching society is strategic, and our main path to achieving that is through contracts with companies that apply our services and technological developments,» Casas concluded.

CIESOL’s participation in InfoAgro 2025 aligns with the University of Almería’s broader commitment to knowledge transfer and innovation in one of the province’s economic pillars: intensive agriculture.
