International Course «Training in Microalgae-Related Industrial Processes» for July 2026.
UAL and CIESOL announce the International Course «Training in Microalgae-Related Industrial Processes» for 2026
The University of Almería, through its Study Abroad 2026 program, has presented an intensive course focused on microalgae-related industrial processes. This training, consisting of 50 teaching hours, will take place from July 6th to 17th, 2026.
Coordinated by Professor Francisco Gabriel Acién Fernández, the program addresses microalgae biotechnology as a strategic tool for the circular bioeconomy, offering sustainable solutions to challenges such as climate change, bio-based product production, and water treatment. The course stands out for its eminently practical methodology, connecting scientific fundamentals with industrial reality.
The CIESOL research center will be one of the fundamental stops in the academic visit program. At our facilities, participants will be able to study firsthand how solar energy, thermal management, and advanced monitoring are integrated into microalgae cultivation systems.
The immersive program is completed with visits to the SABANA demonstration platform and innovative companies in the sector, such as Biorizon Biotech, Aqualia, and Chlydro.
Student Profile and Contact The course will be taught in English and is primarily designed for graduate students, PhD candidates, and early-career professionals in scientific or engineering fields.
