Young Algaeneers Symposium (YAS) 2025: A Key Gathering for Young Algae Researchers at UAL
The University of Almeria (UAL) is preparing to host the Young Algaeneers Symposium (YAS) 2025, a key event for young scientists in the field of microalgae and macroalgae. Jointly organized by the BIO352 group and the European Algae Biomass Association (EABA), the symposium will take place from June 3 to 6, 2025, at the UAL facilities.
YAS is a forum designed by and for young researchers, including master’s students, PhD candidates, postdoctoral researchers, and emerging professionals in the algae industry. Its goal is to foster networking and knowledge exchange among future leaders in the sector, addressing current topics and future challenges in algae research and applications.
The choice of Almeria as the venue is no coincidence. The city is recognized for its contribution to microalgae research and cultivation, with UAL standing out internationally in this field. Moreover, Almeria is home to several pioneering biotech companies specializing in microalgae-based products, particularly in the agricultural sector. The region, known for its vast concentration of greenhouses, provides an ideal environment for innovation and sustainable practices.
Participants of YAS 2025 will have the opportunity to:
- Interact with key researchers and professionals from academia and the algae industry.
- Discuss their research and career perspectives in an open and collaborative forum.
- Visit local companies related to algae, gaining practical insight into the sector.
- Participate in social events designed to facilitate connections and future collaborations.
