Algae for More Sustainable and Healthier Functional Foods (ALGA-HUB)

The ALGA-HUB project is based on the hypothesis that the latest technologies and knowledge in algae management and production can be integrated to develop and demonstrate processes capable of producing functional foods based on these organisms.

Objectives:
The ALGA-HUB project aims to contribute to the development of healthy algae-related foods for a more sustainable and healthier society, addressing three major challenges: improving knowledge about algae, their benefits as a source of functional foods, and the key factors that determine their production and quality; developing pilot-scale processes for the production of algae-based functional foods and validating them under real conditions; and enhancing the portfolio of algae-related functional foods by expanding the range of final products and demonstrating their benefits for society.
